Ramadan

May 7, 2018

7:30am in the canteen

Parent Conversation where parents share about what Ramadan is, how they celebrate it, and what it means to them.

Thank you Hedaia

Outcome:  Today Hedaia enlightened us on the meaning of Ramadan. We attended  a perfectly organized presentation covering all aspects, including customs from Qatar and other countries.  Hedaia, along with Mariam Almalki & Rana Alkhiyami pleasantly surprised us with traditional treats and customary gifts.  While tasting the tea and coffee specially prepared, accompanied with dates and almonds we chatted about customs around Ramadan. Thank you very much for that enjoyable experience.

Parents' Coffee mornings

every Thursday morning

8:00am at Doha Festival City

PA is coordinating a weekly casual coffee morning event. You are all welcome to stop by for just a few minutes or stay as long as you like. Our simple goal is to build community among parents, get to know each other, and share our thought and support when needed.

We don't meet on the weeks when Principal Juha is holding his Coffee Mornings at the QFI School.

Hope to see you there!

Third Culture Kids

Monday, February 26,

7:30am in the auditorium

Presentation based on the principles found in Third Culture Kids by David C. Pollock

Thank you Natalie

Outcome: Thank you Natalie for organizing and presenting, today’s wonderful and constructive  presentation and conversation, regarding children raised in cultures other than their parents, a subject that concerns all expat parents. Many thanks to PA’s guest, Colby Seay, an adult third culture kid who graduated from the American School of Doha, attended college in the US, and then returned to Qatar. The focus of his Master’s degree and now his work at Texas A&M deals with the identity development process of TCKs repatriating for college, and helping them with their transition. Colby spoke of his experiences as a TCK, and explain why he finds the “where are you from” question extremely difficult.
