PA 'Fair' Well Event

Descriptions: Traditionally PA has raised funds to give to the school’s support staff as end-of-year bonus (December) and end-of-academic-year bonus (June). The school cannot function without their support staff, who works long days and takes such good care of our children. For that purpose, we will organise a funding event on Wednesday the 12th June at the QFI School Assembly Hall, which will involve:

  • Dress Down day (Fandom),

  • Bake Sale,

  • Used-Book Sale,

  • Used-Uniform Sale, and

  • Jelly Beans & Lollipop Guessing Game.

Car Boot Sale
Car boot sale

Date: 16th March 2019 at 10:00-14:00

Location: QFI School parking

Sponsor: QFI School & Parents Association

Descriptions: Do you have your house full of things that you do not use or need? Is your children's room flooding with toys? Are you moving and don't know what to do with all the excess things? We have the solution for you. Join our Car Boot Sale on Saturday 16th March at the QFI School. Just fill your car with things you don't longer need, park your car at the school parking and open the trunk. You are ready to start selling your things to the people who need it.

Register at the front desk at least 2 days before the event. All the vendors are responsible for their items, prices and tables.

Parenting session

Date : 24th February 2019 at 11:30-13:30

Location: QFI School Auditorium

Sponsor: QFI School & Parents Association

Descriptions: A parenting session for all the parents at the QFI School on a few delicate topics: peer pressure, sibling rivalry, and bullying. Ms Chaitali, Ms. Jessica, and Ms Amal will be there to answer all your questions. This is a great opportunity to share experiences, give and seek advice, realize that you are not alone in this strange world called "Parenting". Parents are welcome to join for as long as they can.

Outcome: We would like to thank you for joining us. We were around 30 parents present and we  hope you found the session informative and worthwhile. Our counselors did an outstanding job of sharing their expertise with a great group of parents whose enthusiasm and positive spirit helped make our time together both productive and fun.

Parenting session
Sports Day /UNICEF Walk

Dates: 10th & 11th February 2019

Sponsor: QFI School & Parents Association

Descriptions: Students will be encouraged to do a walk for charity. During the first day will run and walk the grade 0-3 students, and the second day the bigger grades. Funds raised will be according to the number of laps that a student makes. All proceeds will go to UNICEF.  Further details will be provided by Class Teachers.

Volunteering: Volunteers are needed for both days during the mornings (7:30-10)
to hand out water, fill water bottles and stamp walkers' passports for the number of laps completed. Also water donations from the parents are greatly appreciated.

Date : 19th January 2019

Sponsor: QFISchool & Parents Association

Descriptions: Celebrating QFISchool diverse population, as  students along with parents and teachers  presents their different cultures by introducing food, customs, music and dance, etc.

Side activities: Food drive

Volunteers from Wa'hab will be at the entrance of the school collecting non-perishable food donations like Pasta, Rice, Canned foods, Long life milk/milk powder, Tea bags, Flour, Sugar, Oil and others. All foods will be given to www.wahab.qa , which is a fantastic organization, based in Doha, that collects surplus food and delivers it to families in need and to various charity agencies. They also work hard at making sure food waste doesn't make it to the landfills by turning it into compost.

Outcome: A total of 9 families and 12+ labourers have received food donations following our food drive.

Once again, we thank you for your donations, your generosity, and big hearts.

Non-Uniform Day - Global Village

Descriptions: Let's get ready for the first event of the year "Global Village" by coming to the school wearing your country's colours, your country's national dress, traditional dress, etc.

Bake Sale

Date : 13th December 2018

Location: QFISchool Assembly Hall

Sponsor: Parents Association

Descriptions: PA is hosting a Bake Sale after the requests of the children. Proceeds will go towards the support staff at our school. Let’s show the support staff how much we appreciate the hard work they do for our children.

Volunteering: To make the day a success, we need your help! Please check out the poster for an item you can contribute. We are also looking for volunteers to donate  your time on Thursday.

OutcomeOne last successful event for this year. Funds from the bake sale added with the gathered funding from the Used Book Sale, separate donations and teachers' donations, we got a total of  QR 446 / support staff (31 in total) as their end-of-year bonus. They received their bonuses on Sunday the 16th December at the school.

Many Thanks  to Åsa, Cindy, Eirini, Fran, Katalin, Maria, Tiina, Päivi and Marianne for lending a hand on the bake sale.

Used Book Sale
Character Day

Character Day

Date : 4th December 2018

 Location: QFISchool Gym

Sponsor: QFIS

Descriptions : The school is organising a character day with the theme: "Dress like
your favourite book character". During the morning there will be a Story Parade between 7:30-8:15 for grades 0-2; and Character Fashion Show between 9:30-10:15 for grades 3-9 in the gym. The whole day is spent sharing the favourite stories and characters with classmates.

Used Book Sale

Date : 4th December 2018

 Location: QFISchool Assembly Hall

Sponsor: Parents Association

Descriptions : Parents are invited to take part in the Parents Association Annual Used Book Sale. Books will range in price from QR5, QR10, QR15 . Please note only parents and caregivers are to buy books for their children with the exception of students in grades 7 , 8 and 9. Find a book, find a friend.

Volunteering: We are looking for volunteers to help setting up the tables before and after the event, and selling books the day of the event.

Outcome: Many thanks to all parents, students and staff who helped to make the used book sale a success. With your help, we raised total QR 5,340 for the end-of-year bonus to the support staff.

Winter Fest

Date : 15th November at 5 - 9 p.m.

Winter Fest

Descriptions: Winter Fest is a new event at the QFIS on Thursday 15th November during the afternoon and evening for all the families. It is an evening full of fun things to do for children and adults. Tickets can be bought from the school front office starting November 10th.

Volunteering: 

Outcome: All the money QFISchool collected from the event went to purchasing new and better sports equipments to the school, such as balls, nets, sticks, bats, hula hoops, etc.

Jeans&Greens
Non-Uniform Day:
I green my classroom "Jeans&Greens"

Date : 25th October (Thursday)

Sponsor: Parents Association

Descriptions: We have already mastered the 3Rs in our classrooms. We have learned how to REDUCE the amount of trash that ends up in the dumpster by RECYCLING and REUSING every jar, plastic bottle and scrap of paper in science experiments and works of art. Creating a green classroom extends far beyond recycling. It’s all about changing the environment for students, teachers, staff and, eventually, the world. 

To join the event bring QR 5 and wear jeans + something green that day (t-shirt, green shoes or socks, green hair accessories, etc.). The donations are used to buy air-filtering plants to each classroom for cleaner air.

Volunteering: -

Outcome: Many thanks to all parents, students and staff who helped to make the non-uniform day a success. With your help, we raised QR 3,000 for the I green my classroom -project. With the funds we bought air-filtering plants to each classroom, which were distributed at the school by Student Council.

We will use a credit system to facilitate the event and to maintain fairness to all. Parents making donations will receive a voucher to acquire the items they need. Parents without donations will still be able to purchase the items they need. However, priority will be given to parents who have made donations. We ask that you bring your donation that day. These must be clean and in good condition; items with stains, tears, or holes will not be accepted. Please be aware that numbers may be limited and that some items may not be available at all. We do not know what families will bring to the swap.
